student revising for maths exam

GCSE Maths

“We arranged for Joan to tutor my daughter Sophie in 2007, when she was at the beginning of year 11 as we were concerned that her school did not expect her to gain a grade C at GCSE.  After a few months of tuition Sophie’s school decided to enter her for the Higher level GCSE, rather than the Foundation level and Sophie went on to gain a grade B.  We and Sophie were delighted! My younger daughter Sara was also impressed, and although she is a very capable mathematician, she asked us if she could also be tutored by Joan as she is keen to gain an A*.  Again, after only a few months Sara’s progress is significant and she feels she is well on target to achieving her goal”

A Level Maths

“Joan started tutoring me in Jan 2007.  I wanted to do medicine at university and needed to gain a good grade.  My school were predicting a grade C.  In the summer of 2007 I gained a strong grade A and had enjoyed my studies with Joan so much, I decided to study Maths at A level – not my original intention by any means!  Joan continued to tutor me and I gained grade As at both AS and A2 Mathematics.  I’m now enjoying my first year as a medical student.”

KS2 Maths

“Our son was generally doing well in year 6 at primary school, but maths was his weakness. He was predicted to gain a level 4 in Maths. We arranged for Joan to tutor him and were delighted when he gained a level 5. He has been in the top set for Maths in secondary school ever since.  Those few lessons he had with Joan definitely helped prepare him for Key Stage 2 Maths.”

KS3 Maths

“Our daughter was finding maths difficult and seemed to be making little progress.  Her predicted grade for the end of year 8 was little better than what she’d achieved at the end of year 6 – when she’d done well.  Joan was recommended to us and we have been delighted with Phoebe’s progress and improved confidence.  She enjoys her sessions with Joan.”

University Entrance Tests

“I decided in my late 20’s that I wanted to change my career direction and train to be a teacher.  I was offered a University place subject to my passing their entrance exam in Numeracy.  Maths had never been my strong point and Joan was recommended to me as someone who could help.  I passed the entrance exam – and went on to pass the QTS numeracy skills test on my first attempt.”
